The Insight & Analytics team is made of expert analysts who can add value in the initial discovery and shaping phases of the communications development path. The team can provide insight into target audiences, uncover key influencers and outlets, test key messages, assess brand strategies and conduct perceptual mapping of traditional and social media. This position is an integral part of the team and provides support for projects, services and products to Account Staff or other teams within the agency. The focus of this intermediate-level position is to gather relevant information for analysis and distribution.
Please note: This role will be up to 40 hours/week and will start immediately and go through the end of July 2010.
Responsibilities: As a Research Analyst you will provide support for projects, services and products to external clients, PR Account Staff or other teams within the agency. This position will conduct research projects requiring in-depth information retrieval, evaluation and analysis, and produce high-level analytical results. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors and has the ability to draw well-informed conclusions from research findings and relevant data and present recommendations to clients.
Qualifications: • Bachelors degree or above preferred in library science, market research or related field. MLS degree strongly preferred. • 3 + years of professional experience, preferably in market research, library science, journalism or communications-related work. • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and proficient in data and research tools such as Factiva, LexisNexis, etc. • Strong search techniques and the best methods to obtain data by using database and internet searching; solid awareness of research methodologies such as primary and secondary. • Developed understanding of the roles of media, public relations, analyst relations, public affairs and/or other influential models and how research can make these more effective. • Strong analytical skill set, ability to work with internal and external clients to identify and make suggestions about deliverables based on client knowledge. • Developed written materials that are organized, professional and concise. • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize • Passion for research & discovery: Deep sense of curiosity – wants to learn, asks questions, deep desire to understand why and why not; has a sense of humor and a positive outlook; has the ability to ease tension at key moments; is enthusiastic, excited, engaged and active.
